Pinecliff was first established in the late 1970s among the cliffs and ridges above I-25 and Garden of the Gods Road. It is a well-planned community with home sites which take advantage of the natural terrain and surroundings. Earth-tone colors and use of natural wood building materials offer uniformity to much of the community. Custom homes with varying styles are intermixed on the bluffs surrounding a couple of large multiple home complexes. There is a Homeowner Association, and building covenants govern the neighborhoods. Areas of this large development continue to be opened offering spectacular home sites on the top of several ridges. New homes can be found in the area by following the streets to the higher bluff areas on the north side. The area has only one entrance, which is via Point of the Pines and Elkton Drives. The Pinecliff local-only traffic minimizes traffic congestion and, most importantly, increases safety.
